Examination of the Shoulder

A variety of different tests have been established to examine the various structures and their disorders in the shoulder. In this section, we have attempted to demonstrate some of the most common shoulder tests through simple videos. Using our videos and the explanations of the various shoulder tests, it should be easy to replicate them.

Before applying specific tests, the doctor or therapist must first gain a general overview of the shoulder's mobility. Even simply observing the undressing process can be very helpful. It has proven useful to have the patient demonstrate an apron grip and a neck grip. The following video shows these two shoulder movement tests:
